Family Orithyiidae View in CoL

The male gonopore is coxal in this monotypic family, often ranked to Orithyioidea . In Orithyia , a thick and short penis emerges from the extremity of the large P5 coxo-sternal condyle (see Modalities of penis protection: Condylar protection). The condyle moves freely, with only a small basal portion articulating on a narrow elevation of sternite 8. The penis is covered by a sclerotised sheath, followed by a soft papilla after its emergence ( Fig. 31A View FIGURE 31 ). See Monophyletic Heterotremata: Superfamily Orithyioidea .
