Type:—[ SOUTH AFRICA], Mpumalanga province, from Barberton, 2531 (–CC), date on which material collected in South Africa unknown, specimen prepared on 26 February 1913, George Thorncroft s.n. (holotype, K barcode K000232850 [image available at http://specimens.kew.org/herbarium/K000232850]!).
Taxonomic notes:— Kalanchoe sexangularis is an accepted species (see Figueiredo et al. 2016: 95, 97–99 and Smith et al. 2019: 226–232) ( Fig. 1G View FIGURE 1 ). It is the most widely cultivated southern African species of Kalanchoe globally ( Figueiredo et al. 2016: 95, 97–99, Smith et al. 2019: 226–232, Smith 2020b).
Nomenclatural notes:—When describing K. sexangularis, Brown (1913: 120) stated: “ South Africa. Transvaal?
Described from a living plant sent by Mr Thorncroft to Cambridge Botanic Garden, and communicated to Kew by R.
I. Lynch.” The specimen George Thorncroft s.n. is the holotype of the name K. sexangularis . The nomenclature of K. sexangularis was comprehensively dealt with by Figueiredo et al. (2016: 95, 97–99).
