NOTES: In the description of this species Lister (1891: 264) mentions several collections “On dead ash-sticks, in a mixed wood, and on the Undercliff, Lyme Regis, Dec. 1890 ” and “In Broome’s collection, British Museum, there are eleven specimens of this species, as under: 1 named Reticularia umbrina , from Rudloc, Dec. 1843. 1 named Reticularia umbrina , from St. Catherines, Feb. 1852. 1 named Licea ?, from Batheaston, Dec. 1863. 1 named Physarum metallicum , from Batheaston, Jan. 1864. 7 named Lycogala epidendrum , from Batheaston, Mar. 1869.”. Of all these we only found two slides in BM (2, 3) from Ivy Hollow 2.12.90, and with reference to notebook IV: 37 A. We selected slide 3 as the lectotype, since slide 2 has spores of Lamproderma echinulatum mixed in it, and this is included in the comments of notebook IV: 37 Awhere the contents of both slides are noted and illustrated. Three years later, when Lister published the first edition of his monograph ( Lister 1894) , he placed his new species in the genus Dianema as Dianema depressum (Lister) Lister.
