Sorolopha ghilarovi Kuznetzov, 1988 View in CoL
( Figs. 8 View FIGURES 2 – 10 , 16 View FIGURES 11 – 18 , 25 View FIGURES 25 – 27 )
Sorolopha ghilarovi Kuznetzov, 1988 , Trudÿ Vses. Ent. Obshch., 70: 178. TL: North Vietnam (Tamdao).
Diagnosis: This species is similar to S. bryana (Felder & Rogenhofer) in features of the male genitalia, but it can be distinguished from the latter by the ventral prominence of the cucullus being clavate, outwardly curved, and broadened. In contrast, in S. bryana (Felder & Rogenhofer) the ventral prominence is inwardly curved. The two species also differ in characters of the female genitalia: in S. ghilarovi the funnel-shaped sterigna is very large with a deeply V-shaped median split, and the signum is a concave granulate plate; in S. bryana the funnel-shaped sterigma is smaller, and the signum is hornlike.
Specimens examined: 53, 1Ƥ, Cucphuong, Ninhbinh province, 24.IV.2006 ( Y.S. Bae); 1Ƥ, Tamdao, Vinhphuc province, 31. VII. 2006 ( Y.S. Bae).
Host plants: Unknown.
Distribution: Vietnam.
Remarks: S. ghilarovi was described by Kuznetsov (1988) based on specimens collected in Tamdao National Park, the species is widely distributed in Vietnam. It was reported by Razowski (2009) based on specimens in the collection of the Berlin Museum.
Sorolopha herbifera (Meyrick, 1909) ( Figs. 9 View FIGURES 2 – 10 , 17 View FIGURES 11 – 18 , 26 View FIGURES 25 – 27 )
Argyroploce herbifera (Meyrick, 1909) , J. Bombay Nat. Hist. Soc., 19: 603; Clarke 1955: 157. TL: India. Olethreutes herbifera ; Meyrick 1930: 604 (foodplant); Clarke 1958: 516, pl. 257 figs. 4-4a. Eudemis (Acanthothyspoda) herbifera ; Diakonoff 1968: 51.
Sorolopha herbifera ; Diakonoff 1973: 72, figs. 112–113 (3, Ƥ genit.).
Diagnosis: Sorolopha herbifera is similar to S. johngreeni Horak, 2006 , but differs from it by the presence of a white irregular zigzagged edge of the basal blotch, extending from about 1/4 the length of the costa to above the dorsum. It is also similar to S. autoberylla in features of the male genitalia, although superficially the species are quite different. Sorolopha herbifera can be distinguished from the latter by the conspicuous snow-white markings of the forewing of S. herbifera , the socius thicker beyond the base with shorter apical spines, and the dorsal half of cucullus longer and thicker.
Specimens examined: 43, 1Ƥ, Tamdao, Vinhphuc province, 31.VII. 2006 ( Y.S. Bae); 1Ƥ, Bavi, Hanoi province, 19. VII – 5.VIII. 2010 ( Y.S. Bae & X.V. Le).
Host plants: Cinnamomum camphora (L.) ( Lauraceae ) in Thailand (Kawabe, 1989), Cinnamomum camphora (L.) ( Lauraceae ) in India (Diakonoff, 1973).
Distribution: Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India.
Remarks: Kuznetsov (1988) recorded the species from Tamdao National Park, Vinhphuc province, Vietnam, and Razowski (2009) reported from Sapa, Fansipan Mts, Vietnam.
