Etymology:—The specific epithet is named to honour C. C. Mez (1866–1944), a German botanist who worked extensively on the Neotropical Lauraceae and Bromeliaceae .
Distribution:— Persea meziana is reported from the South Eastern parts of Brazil ( POWO 2019).
