Description. Large to medium sized species. Head: Face narrow ovoid, nearly smooth; fastigium verticis about as wide as scapus; ocelli distinct; fastigium frontis separated from fastigium verticis by a very fine suture; subocular furrows shallow, widening ventrad ( Fig. 90K View FIGURE 90 ). Abdominal tergites two and three each with two rows of stridulatory pegs.
Wings reaching about tip of stretched hind tibia ( Fig. 90J View FIGURE 90 ). Tegmen: Radius with two branches, both forked near tip; media anterior free from base but in subbasal area very close to and in one point touching radius; cubitus anterior at base with a single branch that forks into two veins, the anterior branch makes a curvature and receives an oblique connection vein from MA and shortly after divides again into two parallel branches, MP and CuA1, while the posterior branch (CuA2) does not divide further; cubitus posterior undivided, free throughout; with 4 anal veins, last two with common stem.
Legs: Fore coxa with a spine at fore margin; fore and mid femora unarmed; fore and mid tibiae with four pairs of large ventral spines and one pair of smaller ventral spurs; hind femur with 7–9 external and 10 internal spines on ventral margins; hind tibia with spaced spines on both dorsal margins, ventral margins with one pre-apical spine each; with 3 apical spurs on both sides.
Coloration. General color brown; vertex black; pronotum with margin and two spots at anterior margin black; abdominal tergites black; legs of general color. Face light-colored with fastigium verticis, antennal scrobae, base of antennae, a band below compound eyes black. Tegmen semi-transparent, along margins whitish, along midline brownish; veins dark brown; hind wing semi-transparent whitish, veins dark brown.
Male. Ninth abdominal tergite globular with down-curved margins, apical margin on both sides concave, in middle little projecting; down-curved lateral margin in ventral area with a distinct furrow, immediately below this furrow with a nearly hook-shaped appendage with acute and little twisted tip. Tenth abdominal tergite from middle of short tenth tergite with a pair of long and little curved projections with compressed disc-shaped and slightly serrate apex ( Fig. 91 View FIGURE 91 A–B). Epiproct with diverging lateral and rounded apical margin, with a wide furrow. Subgenital plate with convex latero-apical margins interrupted by a concave excision in middle of apical margin; rather small styli inserted apico-laterally. Phallus membranous.
Female see Gorochov (2002a).
