Description. Body length (including tegmen): male: 6.1 – 7.2mm, female: 7.6 – 9.0mm
Face with maxillary plates and lora pale grey, fronto-clypeus pale yellow. Crown pale yellow with red and black spots. Pronotum yellowish-grey with black and pink spots. Scutellum yellow with black markings ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A, C). Forewing pale brown hyaline. Vein brown bordered with black spots ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A – D). Hind tibia pale yellow, external surface dark brown, base of spines black ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 B, D).
Hind femur macrosetae 2+2 with antepenultimate seta as large as others; tibial rows PD, AD, and AV with 18, 9, and 13 macrosetae, respectively.
Male pygofer ventral process with ventral lobe truncate, anterior and posterior angles subequal in size ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A, E – F). Style apophysis with apex attenuate ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 F). Connective stem narrow, distinctly widened posteriorly ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 J). Aedeagus broad at base, narrowed distally, curved dorsally in lateral view, preatrium short; shaft with pair of slender processes distad of gonopore curved anteriorly, apex tapered in lateral and posterior views; pair of ventrolateral processes arising 1/4 distance from apex and extended to but not beyond gonopore ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 C – D).
Female sternite VII with posterior emargination very shallow, concave ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 B). Second valvulae slightly less elongate compared to those of T. dorsigera ; distal section of blades minutely serrate longer than distance between two prominent teeth, dorsal margin between teeth evenly concave ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 G).

Recorded host plant. Eucalyptus pauciflora
Remarks. Trocnada alpina was described from Alpine Creek, Mt Kosciusko, based on one male specimen.
