Abbreviated Description. Indumentum of short basifixed simple hairs, leaflets dimorphic or with a gradual transition between normal leaflets and 2–3 pairs of reduced basal leaflets, 8–11, (excluding the reduced basal leaflets), alternate to opposite, 8.5 × 3.3–12.5 × 4.5 cm, oblong or elliptic, base usually asymmetrical, inflorescence 10–20 cm long, a pyramidal panicle, petals 4–5, 2.5–3.5 mm long, free or fused at the base, valvate, reflexing, filaments completely fused into a staminal tube, anthers 7–10, nectary absent, ovary densely pubescent, 3-locular, locules with 2 collateral ovules, capsule 1.2–1.4 cm long, oblong to ovoid, 3-valved, smooth, minutely sericeous, seed solitary, completely surrounded by a fleshy arillode.

Distribution & Ecology. The known range of this species is now southern Venezuela and Guyana to Pará, Brazil, and also NW Amazonian Brazil. It is a tree of non-flooded rain forest ascending to 800 m elevation.
