Abbreviated Description. Indumentum pubescent to sericeous with short simple basifixed hairs, leaflets (7–)9–12(– 15), alternate to opposite, 5 × 1.3–9(–10) × 3.1 cm, decreasing in size towards the base, oblanceolate, elliptic or oblong, inflorescence (0.5)1.5–8(–11) cm long, a small fascicle or slender pyramidal thyrse, petals 4–5, 2.5–3.5(–4) mm long, united for ¾ of their length, erect or slightly spreading, valvate, filaments completely fused in a staminal tube, margin with short teeth, anthers (6–)7–8(–9), nectary absent, ovary appressed puberulous, (2–)3(–4)-locular, locules with 2 collateral ovules, capsule 1.3–1.5 cm long (2)3-valved, narrowly obovoid or oblong, smooth, appressed pubescent to sericeous, seed completely surrounded by a thin fleshy arillode.

Distribution & Ecology. South eastern Brazil, Paraguay, northern Argentina and Bolivia. Mostly in seasonal deciduous or semi-deciduous forest or gallery forest along streams and cerrado.

Relationships. This species is morphologically closely similar to T. quadrijuga , but this is not supported by the ITS data which separates them widely. In this case the geographical distribution is a better indicator of relationship, as the species is placed in a small clade of mostly coastal Brazilian species including T. ramalhoi , and T. pseudostipularis (25307),
