The species has been reported from Mexico, California, Arizona , New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma ( Metcalf 1963a).

The specimens from the United States are attributed to later described species of Tibicen (particularly T. texanus Metcalf ) or misidentifications. The species appears to be an endemic Mexican species. It has been reported from Morelos in Mexico ( Metcalf 1963a).
