Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 7B View FIGURE 7 ). Wingspan 11.0−12.0 mm. Thiotricha attenuata somewhat resembles T. ateriguttata , but can be distinguished by the darker beige or light ocher forewing with a creamy patch on termen. Also, the dorsum is broadly fuscous in T. attenuata whereas it is entirely white in the latter species. The forewing markings are also similar to those of T. parvunca and T. eborinicosta , but T. attenuata has much brighter ground color and a black median line. In T. parvunca and T. eborinicosta , the forewings are dark fuscous with ochre or creamy median lines. The male genitalia ( Fig. 30C View FIGURE 30 ) of T. attenuata are diagnosed by the round uncus and the ovate anellus lobe. The female genitalia ( Fig. 48B View FIGURE 48 ) are distinctive as the corpus bursae contains numerous spines. It is similar to those of T. parvunca , but spines are shorter and more broadly placed on the corpus bursae in T. attenuata .
Distribution. China (Hebei, Henan, Tianjin), Japan, Korea, Russia (Primorsk Territory).
Remarks. This species is recorded from China for the first time. In Russia, it is found in coastal broadleaf forest with Quercus dentata Thunb. ( Omelko 1993) , but the larval host plant is unknown. Lee et al. (2021) mistranslated the original description for the host plant information.
