( Figs. 10–15 View FIGURES 10 – 15 )

Type material. Holotype: ♂ (BDN. No.21441), China, Jiangxi Province, Shangrao City, Qianshan County, Wuyi Mountain area, 27°99’96”N, 117°81’37”E, iv.13.2014, C. C. Yan, sweeping net. Paratypes: 1♂, data as holotype.

Diagnositic characters. The wing anal lobe reduced; anal point absent; megaseta absent; and clypeus with 11 setae can separate the species from the other species of Sympotthastia .

Male imago (n = 2). Total length 4.03–4.33 mm. Wing length 2.58–2.78 mm. Total length/wing length 1.56– 1.58. Coloration. Antenna dark brown. Legs and abdomen brown. Thorax dark brown.

Head ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Antenna with 13 flagellomeres. AR 1.78 (1). Ultimate flagellomere 730 µm long. Subapical seta of terminal antennal flagellomere length 22.5 µm. Outer verticals 7. Postorbitals 8–11. Clypeus with 11 setae. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 45.0; 72.5; 155.0; 175.0; 250. Head width/palp length: 0.86.

Wing ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Anal lobe reduced. VR 3.29–3.44. Costal extension 112.5–125.0 µm long. R with 7–8 setae. R1 with 5 setae. Squama with 44 setae.

Thorax ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Antepronotal lobes developed. Antepronotum with 7–11 lateral setae. Dorsocentrals 13–16; prealars 8–9. Scutellum with 30–32 setae.

Legs. Spur of fore tibia 77.5–87.5 µm long; spurs of mid tibia 50.0–57.5 µm and 50.0–55.0 µm long; spurs of hind tibia 50.0–55.0 µm and 67.5–77.5 µm long. Hind tibial comb with 10 spines. Front without pseudospur; middle ta1 with 2 pseudospurs, ta2 with 1 pseudospurs; hind ta1 with 2 pseudospurs, ta2 with 1 pseudospurs. Lengths (in µm) and proportions of legs as in Table 2 View TABLE 2 .

Hypopygium ( Figs. 13–15 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Anal point absent. Tergite IX 100.0–107.5 µm long, with 24–39 setae. Laterosernite IX with 16–24 setae. Transverse sternapodeme 170.0–186.0 µm long. Aedeagal lobe 120.0–135 µm long. Phallapodeme 160.0–162.5 µm long. Gonocoxite 250.0–255.0 µm long. Superior volsella small, rounded, with microtrichia. Median volsella spiniferous. Inferior volsella not apparent. Gonostylus 157.5–165.0 µm long, widest in about middle and narrowing towards apex with a strong, short seta. Megaseta absent. HR 1.55–1.59.

Etymology. Name after the type locality, Wuyi mountain.

Remarks. There are only two species, S. zavreli Pagast and S. wuyiensis sp. n., with unusual anal point in this genus. S. wuyiensis sp. n. is without anal point and without megaseta in gonostylus and clypeus with 11 setae, while S. zavreli Pagast has an anal point reduced to a tubercle, a gonostylus with megaseta and with bare clypeus. Moreover, reduced wing anal lobe of this new species is unique in the genus. The genus is Holarctic in distribution, and especially widely recorded in Palaearctic region. However, the new species has only been collected from a subtropical mountain area in Oriental China.

Distribution. China (Oriental China: Jiangxi Province)
