Specimens examined:
Holotype: 3. HOLOTYPUS, atripennis, Pic, Coll. Mus. Congo, Kivu: Lubongola, -1939, Dr. Hautmann, desiré, R. DET., N., 5621, Strotocera atripennis n sp ( MRAC).
Length: 13.3mm (1 specimen).
Head: Black; punctures fine but conspicuous, more or less densely distributed. Antennae: Brown to black; not reaching base of pronotum when laid alongside; A3 slightly triangular, A4- A10 serrate.
Pronotum: Black; very slightly dilated anteriorly, constricted towards base, with six gibbosities on disc and two gibbosities at base (in middle); finely and diffusely punctate; length:width ratio 1.64:1. Scutellum: Black-brown.
Elytra: Black, each elytron with a whitish transverse fasciae beyond middle spanning from lateral to sutural margins; fascia with narrow extension along suture towards apex; diameter of punctures larger than interstices, punctures within fascia small and sparsely distributed, punctures elongate behind fasciae; length:width ratio 2.03:1.
Legs: Black-brown to black.
Lower surface: Dark brown to black.
Vestiture: With whitish hairs.
Distribution: Congo.
