Loc. typ.: China, Western Sichuan, Mugezuo Lake (= Lake Xierenhai).

Described upon a long series of specimens collected in different localities of Western Sichuan. It has been collected again in several localities, all in the same area.

Description. Habitus as in Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13–16 . The combination of characters allowing to distinguish this species are: length 7.2–9.8 mm; integuments dark reddish-brown with metallic glance, sometimes with very faint metallic green hue on elytra, rather dull; body rather convex; legs and antennae brownish, sometimes paler, rather short and robust; head broad, with mandibles nearly as long as the rest of the head; pronotum anteriorly broad, with lateral margins markedly constricted and very shortly sinuate towards the base; elytra rather narrow, parallel-sided, with striae rather shallow, slightly shallower towards the sides; shoulders angulose and with a small but evident tooth. Median lobe of aedeagus with apical portion almost as long as basal portion; in lateral view subsinuate before apex, in dorsal view constricted and short, and with a very small tooth on the left side ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 39–42 ). Ratios: El/Pl = 2.14; Ew/Pw = 1.30; El/Ew = 1.61.
