Current Status. Synonym of Stolas indigacea ( Boheman, 1850) .

Remarks. Spaeth (1923) based the description of this taxon on numerous specimens from various localities in Argentina, but did not select one as the holotype; therefore, all must be considered syntypes.

Borowiec (1999) did not recognize any taxa of subspecific rank as valid and considered them synonyms of their nominal species. Since that time, S. arrogans has been treated as a synonym of S. indigacea . We have studied the types of both taxa, and they are quite distinct. However, they belong to the complicated Stolas festiva (Klug, 1829) species- group, which displays great polymorphism with many local forms. The group needs a complete revision.

Until now, this nominal taxon was considered to have been published in 1922, as the description was in the fourth issue of Volume 1 of Norsk Entomologisk Tidsskrift in 1922. However, this issue was published no sooner than 24 June 1923. Hence, the year is changed accordingly.
