Remarks. One of the commonest Nepticulidae in France, also in Corsica. Mines on Amelanchier are considered to belong to this species, although we have not seen any reared adults from this host in France. In the past mines on Amelanchier were identified as S. mespilicola , but that species usually feeds on Sorbus species ( Klimesch 1950; Johansson & Nielsen 1990), although it has been recorded from Amelanchier .

The old record from Doubs under the name Lithocolletis gratiosella ( Bruand [1851]) is excluded because the knowledge of Nepticulidae at that time was too limited for a correct identification and the paper does not give any characters.
