TYPE SPECIES. — Stauroplegma brevispina Hinde, 1890 ( Hinde 1890: 50, pl. 4, fig. 5).
AGE AND LOCATION OF TYPE MATERIAL. —Upper Dapingian-Sandbian, Middle Ordovician from cherts in the Southern Uplands, Scotland.
TAXON CODE. — 328.
STATUS. — Nomen dubium. DIAGNOSIS. — “Staurosphaerida with solid, irregularly reticulate or spongy shell, a concentric medullary shell, and four simple spines approximately in the form of a cross. This genus differs from Staurodoras by the possession of an inner medullary test.” ( Hinde 1890: 49).

It is not possible to determine the nature of this radiolarian from the figured specimen.
