TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis … ab insula Melita [Parmese hills ( Italy) … Malta Island]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (missing right mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 12): Spoggosia Rnd. / occlusa Rnd. / 613; 1 ♀, syntype (missing right fore-leg) ( MSNC: Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I): Spoggosia R. occlusa R. 69 ♀ Melita / Coll. Rondani, scatola n° 1, posiz. F-13 / Museo di Storia Naturale Università di Pisa, Calci ( PI) ex collezione Rondani.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Chetogena obliquata (Fallén, 1810) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 137, O’Hara et al. 2020: 385).
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 183) described both sexes of Spoggosia occlusa without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of length: “ in collibus agri parmensis . … Duo specimina masculum et foeminam etiam ab insula Melita accepi a D. Schembri [Parmese hills … I obtained two specimens, male and female … from Malta Island sent by D. Schembri]”. We found two syntypes in this study .
