Herbs perennial, 20–35cm tall, glabrous throughout. Roots fascicled. Stem erect, solitary, striate, bases clothed without remnant sheaths, upper 1-2-branched. Basal and lower leaves petiolate, petioles 3–15cm, petiole base sheathing, oblong, ca. 2–4.5cm; leaf blade 1-pinnate; pinnae 2–5 pairs, sessile, ovate or oblong, 0.5×1.5–2× 3cm, margins irregularly serrate to pinnatifid, with prominent filamentous apices. Upper leaves smaller and reduced, sheath prominent. Umbels compound, terminal and lateral; bracts 1–6 (occasionally absent), linear, entire or apex 2-3-lobed, unequal, 0.5–1cm; rays 5–8, 1– 3.5cm, subequal; bracteoles 2–6, linear, unequal. Calyx teeth conspicuous, linear-lanceolate. Petals white, obovate or oblong-obvate, apex mucronate. Stylopodium short-conic; styles long, reflexed. Fruit ovoid, 2× 3mm, compressed laterally, glabrous, sometimes 1 mericarp not developed well or aborted; ribs prominent, narrowly winged, corky-thickened; vittae 1 in each furrow, 2 on commissure. Seed face plane. Carpophore 2-cleft to base.
Distribution and Habitat: —As mentioned above, the type material of Sium crispulifolium was collected from Laoguishan, Shilin County of Kunming City, China, and the newly discovered population is situated in Luquan County of Kunming City, China, alt. 2577 m, 102°50’E, 25°39’N, in the alpine grassland or shrubbery of forest margins ( Pinus yunnanensis Franch. ) ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ). Therefore, Sium crispulifolium is a species endemic to China.

Additional specimens examined: — China. Yunnan: Luquan County, LZ 1523 ( KUN) ; Yunnan: Shilin County, Guishan , Shuiyumin & Chenwenhong et al. 64938 ( KUN; PE01940903 ) .
Phenology: —Flowering and fruiting from July to October.
