6. Siphocampylus fluminensis (Vell.) Wimmer (1926: 210) View in CoL .
= Lobelia fluminensis Vellozo (1831: 159) . Lectotype (designated here):— BRAZIL. São Paulo, “ Habitat maritimis Alpibusque Fluminensibus ”. [icon ined.] “Syng. Monog.: LOBELIA fluminensis Tab. 159” (Manuscript Sect. of Torre do Tombo, Lisbon) [PT/ TT/MSLIV/2778 available at https://digitarq.arquivos.pt/viewer?id=7792203], and published by Vellozo (1831. Fl. Flumin. Icon. 8: t. 159. 1831 ) .
Notes:—Vellozo’s plate for Lobelia fluminensis ( Vellozo 1831: 8, tab. 159) shows a plant of the genus Siphocampylus , typically with the entire corolla and two dorsal lobes, two lateral lobes, and one ventral lobe. Siphocampylus fluminensis ( Fig. 1 I, J View FIGURE 1 ) by having widely ovate leaves with denticulate-fimbriate leaf margins, and erect calyx lobes. These characteristics are easily observable in the iconograph.
The species is endemic to Brazil, and found in the states of Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo. It is strongly associated with the Atlantic Forest, occurring in High Altitude Grasslands, and the Tropical Rain Forest ( Rollim et al. 2020). Like is the case of Lobelia ignea (= Siphocampylus corymbifer ), the most probable Vellozo’s collection location for L. fluminensis (= S. fluminensis ) was the Bocaina mountain area.
