Distribution. China (Anhui, Beijing, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Jiangsu, Jilin, Taiwan, Yunnan, Zhejiang); India, Japan and Myanmar.
Notes. A specimen from Guangxi in IOZ is similar to S. watanabei kempi , except that the vertex is black posteriorly (yellow in S. watanabei kempi ); the scutellum is evenly punctate (broadly impunctate in S. watanabei kempi ); and the punctures on dorsal and lateral parts of the propodeum are mostly separated (mostly contiguous in S. watanabei kempi ). Probably all subspecies and varieties of S. watanabei should be synonymized in the future because of the common intermediate variation (e.g., between S. watanabei s.s. and S. pekingensis ).
