Sclerostomus truncatus Lüderwaldt, 1935 View in CoL
Sclerostomus truncatus Lüderwaldt 1935: 551 View in CoL (description)
Sclerostomus truncatus Lüderwaldt. Didier & Séguy 1953: 166 View in CoL (804) (catalog) (erroneously as Pycnosiphorus View in CoL ); Benesh 1960: 37 (catalog); Krajcik 2001: 19 (catalog); Krajcik 2003: 166 (catalog). Sclerostomus (Sclerostominus) truncatus Lüderwaldt. Weinreich 1960: 85 View in CoL (description, key, and illustrations); Maes 1992: 52 (catalog).
This species was previously treated by Weinreich (1960) and the subgenus Sclerostominus erected for it. The characters used by Weinreich were the truncate anterior angles of the pronotum, setose mentum, and the lack of temporal processes in the male. Despite these autapomorphies, the species agrees with Sclerostomus View in CoL in the characters used here to redefine the genus, thus we consider Sclerostominus to be a junior synonym of Sclerostomus View in CoL , new synonymy.
