Schizobasis sigmoidea (J.C.Manning & Deacon) Mart. View in CoL -Azorín, M.B.Crespo, M.Pinter & Wetschnig comb. nov.
≡ Drimia sigmoidea J.C.Manning & Deacon in Manning et al. (2014: 267).— Type: SOUTH AFRICA. Western Cape, (3320: Montagu), Ashton, Wolwendrift , cliff face in large kloof, (− CC), 23 Sep 2013, J. Deacon, D. Gwynne-Evans & R. McKenzie 2820 (holotype NBG; isotype MO) .
Drimia sigmoidea View in CoL was recently described from the Robertson Karoo in the Western Cape province of South Africa. As indicated in the title “A review of the Schizobasis View in CoL group of Drimia Jacq. View in CoL ”, the new species belongs to Schizobasis Baker (1873b: 105) View in CoL based on the ephemeral flowers, its well-branched, wiry inflorescence and reduced, filiform leaves present only during the seedling stage (cf. Manning et al. 2014). Therefore, a new combination is needed to accommodate this new species in Schizobasis View in CoL .
