Locus typicus: USA, Idaho, Nez Perce County, Soldiers Meadow Reservoir , 45 km SE Leviston. Holotype: Male, 22.vii.1974, leg. P. H. Arnaud ( PWMP).
Description. Male. Head. Eye bridge 2–3 facets wide. 4th flagellomere with l/w-index 1.8–2.0, haired somewhat shorter than wide. Palpus 3-segmented, short; basal segment with a weak deepened sensory pit and 1–2 bristles. Thorax. Brownish; scutum haired short, fine and pale, a few lateral bristles are longer. Wings pale; R1 rather long, = 2/3 R; c = ½ w; y shorter x, bare; posterior veins bare. Haltere short, brownish. Legs yellowish brown; tibial organ small, comb-like, with 2–3 bristles; spurs of middle and hind tibiae with rather long, but unequal spurs; claws toothless. Abdomen. Brown, haired whitish. Hypopygium brownish, inner ventral margin of gonocoxites haired sparsely; gonocoxites slightly longer than gonostylus; gonostylus without apical tooth; with 4 spines near the apex and 2 spines in close proximity to each other above the middle of inner side somewhat, all spines with rather strong bases. Tegmen without distinct corners; aedeagus short. Body size: 1.4 mm.
Comments. This small species is similar to Sc. abedabunae but differs by having only 4, irregularly arranged spines at the apex of gonostylus and a tegmen without strong lateral corners. The species belongs to the Sc. paradoxa group.
Distribution. USA (Idaho).
