TYPE LOCALITY: “ In tota Italia [in all Italy]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 19): Sarcophaga Mgn / privigna Rnd. , ♂ / 1011 / S. albiceps ♂ Meig. , det. Böttcher / lectotype ♂, S. privigna Rond., T. Pape det., 1986 / Parasarcophaga albiceps (Mg.) , T. Pape det., 1986.

PARALECTOTYPES EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (dirty, terminalia glued to a cardboard stage pinned below specimen) ( MZUF: Box 19): Sarcophaga Mgn / privigna Rnd. , ♂ / 1011 / Malta / S. tuberosa sec. Type ♂ Pand., det. Böttcher / paralectotype; 2 ♂♂ (partially eaten by dermestids) ( MZUF: Box 19): Sarcophaga Mgn / privigna Rnd. , ♂ / 1011 / paralectotype.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Sarcophaga (Parasarcophaga) albiceps Meigen, 1826 View in CoL ( Verves 1986: 170, Pape 1988: 13, Pape 1996: 374; Krčmar et al. 2019: 142).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861g: 387) described Sarcophaga privigna from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths. In his redescription of Sarcophaga privigna Rondani (1862d: 109) specified the type locality: “ in agri parmensis collibus [Parmese hills] … Insubricum [Insubrian (= Lombardy) Alps] ... ab Insula Melita [from Malta Island]”. Pape (1988: 13) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (3 ♂♂) but did not mention an additional three males: one in the MZUF, one in the MSNC, and one in the MSNPV (all are paralectotypes).
