Saga beieri Kaltenbach, 1967 View in CoL
Distribution: This species was recorded from Anatolia and Syria ( Kaltenbach 1967). The distribution of species in Anatolia has intensified mostly in Mediterranean and South-Eastern parts ( Figure 3A View FIGURE 3 ) of it ( Kaltenbach 1967; Naskrecki & Ünal 1995).
Song recording: Male specimens are collected from Turkey, Mersin, Tarsus, road of Gülek pass, N 37°15.00’, E 034°46.29’, 1086 m, 25.VII.2017, leg.: H. Sevgili, D. Sirin, A. Mol & M.S. Taylan and the calling songs are re- corded from one male at 28 ˚C in the room conditions (by D. Şirin).
Description of song: Six records from one male were examined. The calling song consists of phrases ( Figure 3B View FIGURE 3 ) with irregular intervals. Phrase durations vary between 1.69 and 2.31 s (1.94 ± 0.13), and each phrase contains 71–82 syllables (74.6 ± 2.9). The phrase starts with 7–10 lower amplitudes syllables (generally corresponds to 1/7–1/8 of phrase) and continues with a crescending sequence and reach as highest amplitude at the end of this part ( Figure 3C View FIGURE 3 ). The remaining syllables have quite similar amplitude. The phrase begins with an isolated first hemisyl- lable and is followed by a gap which last 27–58 ms (41.15 ± 9.97) between the first hemisyllable and the ordinary syllables in phrase. Oscillographic analyses show that the syllable periods duration varies between 20.44 and 31.81 ms (24.67 ± 1.6), and each syllable shows a standard structure, which is formulated as loud and long opening hemi- syllable + less loud and short closing hemisyllable ( Figure 3D View FIGURE 3 ). The opening hemisyllables duration varies between 7.82–17.78 ms (13.45 ± 1.28), whereas the closing hemisyllable lasts for 8.73–15.90 ms (11.22 ± 1.09).
