Sabulina bilykiana (Klokov) Dillenb. & Kadereit View in CoL
Basionym: Minuartia bilykiana Klokov (1952: 654) View in CoL .
Type:— UKRAINE: RSS Ucr., ditio Izmailiensis, distr. Novo-Ivanovsk., prope pag. Orjechovka, 22. VI.1941. Legit G. Bilyk (as cited in the protologue) [Original label in Ukrainian (transliteration): «Skhyl z mergelystym gruntom, s. Pantakleya Novo-Ivanivs’kogo rnu Izmayil’s’koyi obl. 22. VI.1941. G. Bilyk». Translation: Slope with marl soil, Pantakleya village of Novo-Ivanivs’ky District of Izmayil Region. 22 June 1941. G. Bilyk] (holotype KW!).
Note:— Dillenberger and Kadereit (2014: 85) proposed a new combination Sabulina bilykiana ( Klokov 1952: 654) Dillenb. & Kadereit , stating that the type is unknown. However, they erroneously cited the protologue as “ Minuartia bilykiana Klokov in Komarov & Schischkin, Fl. URSR 4: 654. 1952 ”. The title of the book (Flora URSR = Flora Ukrayins’koyi RSR = Flora RSS Ucrainicae) and the citation of the volume and page are correct, but the editors of the volume are not Komarov and Schischkin (they were the series editor and the volume editor, respectively, for Volume 6 of the Flora of the USSR = Flora URSS). In fact, M. bilykiana Klokov was not described in the Flora of the USSR (edited by Komarov and Schischkin), but in the Flora of the Ukrainian SSR edited by Zerov (series editor) and Klokov (volume editor). However, that error does not preclude valid publication of a new combination, according to Art. 41.6 of the ICN ( McNeill & al. 2012). Here we also provide the type information for this species. The type specimen was collected near the village of Orikhivka (also Orekhovka; now Bolgrad District, Odessa Region), which before 1945 was known as Pandaklia (also Fundukli, incorrectly cited on the label as “Pantakleya”).
