Derivation of name: From the Latin word ‘eccentricus’, meaning ‘eccentric’, and the Greek word ‘lophos’, meaning ‘crest’, in allusion to the distinctive labial crests.
Type specimen: Anterolateral tooth, MPZ 2005-4 View Materials ( Fig. 2A–D), housed in the Museo Paleontológico, Universidad de Zaragoza , Spain .
Type locality and age: Vallipón , west of Castellote , c. 150 km south-east of Zaragoza ; Artoles Formation, upper Barremian .
Type stratum: Basal conglomeratic bed.
Referred material: About 30 teeth from the Albian of Castellote , Province of Teruel ( Figs 2E–Z, 3 View Figure 3 ) .
Diagnosis: As for genus, monotypic.
