Pristosia latistoma Sasakawa, J.L. Kim, J.K. Kim & Kubota, 2006 View in CoL
Chinese common name: Ḟ口右±ş (Guăng Kǒu Yòu Bù Jiă)
Sasakawa, J.L. Kim, J.K. Kim & Kubota, 2006: 1007 (Original: Pristosia ; holotype in FSKU, type locality: Jungsanri, Mt. Jirisan, 1400–1500 m, Sancheong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, Korea); Sasakawa, 2010: 68 ( Pristosia , phylogeny); Hovorka, 2017: 772 ( Pristosia (Pristosia) , catalogue).
Material examined. (a total of 49 specimens): 1 male and 2 females ( IZAS), “ CHINA, Jilin Province, Changbaishan, Erdaobaihe Town , 1023 m, 2015.VI.16–18, Liu Ye ” ; 1 female ( IZAS), “ CHINA, Jilin Provin. Changbaishan , 1400 m, 1991.VII.19, Yu Peiyu lgt.” ; 1 female ( IZAS), “ CHINA, Jilin Provin. Changbaishan , 1993.VII.2–4, Yu Peiyu lgt.” ; 4 males and 18 females ( IZAS), “ CHINA, Jilin Province, Yanbian Prefecture, Antu County, North slope of Changbaishan Mountain , pitfall trap, 770–1960 m, 2012.VII.12–29, Zou Yi lgt.” ; 20 specimens ( BHU), “ CHINA, Jilin Province, Yanbian Prefecture, Antu County, North slope of Changbaishan Mountain , pitfall trap, 890–1870 m, 2019.V.31–IX.16, Liu Shengdong lgt.” ; 1 male and 1 female ( IZAS), “ dzḁŝȗøañ, 1954.8.12 ” [Author’s note: according to the administrative division of China, the place belonged to Liaodong Province at that time and was transferred to Jilin Province in August 1954. It is now Huapi Village, Liudaogou Town, Linjiang City, Baishan City, Jilin Province] .
Distribution. China (Jilin Province, Antu County and Linjiang City) and South Korea (Gyeongsangnam Province, Sancheong County, Jungsanri, Mt. Jirisan).
Remarks. In all the specimens we examined, the apical lamella of the male aedeagus is slightly narrower before the apex (dorsal view), These were compared to the freehand sketches in the original literature ( Sasakawa et al. 2006), which show the apical lamella to be almost straight. Additionally, the apical filament of left paramere of male aedeagus shows intraspecific variation, being either present or absent. The specimens from China might represent a new subspecies, but it is more appropriate to maintain the status until the specimens from North Korea are available and the genus Pristosia is carefully revised.
