ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 162 (key), 165 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino parmensi [ Parmese Apennines ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (covered with mold, missing right mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 12): Phorocera Mgn / verecunda Rnd. / 600.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Thelymorpha marmorata ( Fabricius, 1805) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 254) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 165) described Phorocera verecunda from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Foeminam semel legi [I collected the female once]”. Herting (1969: 202) reported a single female in the MZUF. We also found one syntype in this study.
