Phoricheta prunaria Rondani, 1861 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 98 (key), 100 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: Meigen (1824: 420) gave no locality in his redescription of Tachina carbonaria (Panzer, 1798) , but presumably it is Europe because the work dealt with European species; “ Germania [ Germany]” ( Rondani, 1861e).
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (MZUF: Box 16): Phoricheta Rnd. / prunnaria [sic!] Rnd. carbonaria Mgn. non Fall. / 836 / Scopolia carbonaria Mg. ; 1 ♀, syntype (missing all legs except the left hind-leg) (MNHN: Meigen Collection): Scopolia carbonaria / MNHN, Paris ED 5039 / 1960 40 / 1768 / Scopolia carbonaria .
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Ramonda prunaria ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 378, Pape et al. 1995: 29); valid species, as Periscepsia prunaria ( O’Hara et al. 2009: 40, Cerretti 2010: 457), valid species as Periscepsia (Ramonda) prunaria ( O’Hara et al. 2020: 160) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 100) proposed Phoricheta prunaria for Tachina carbonaria (Panzer, 1798) sensu Meigen (1824: 420) , which he considered a new species. Rondani referred to Meigen’s redescription of Tachina carbonaria , which was based on an unspecified number of specimens, and also added additional characters referring to a single specimen received from J.R. Schiner. Therefore, the type material of Phoricheta prunaria is in the collections of Meigen (MNHN) and Rondani (MZUF). We found two syntypes in this study.
