Trichopygomyia triramula ( Fairchild and Hertig 1952) View in CoL

(= Lutzomyia (Trichopygomyia) triramula ( Fairchild and Hertig 1952) sensu Young and Duncan 1994 ) Phlebotomus triramulus Fairchild and Hertig 1952 , 517, 525 (male, female). Type-locality: Panama, Colon, Medio. Lutzomyia triramula (Fairchild and Hertig) : Young and Duncan 1994, 420 (taxonomy, references, distribution) Trichopygomyia triramula (Fairchild and Hertig) : Galati 2003, 40, 106 (list, male key).

This is the first record of Ty. triramula for Mexico. Ibáñez-Bernal (2002) reported it from Belize and included it in the revision of sand flies of Mexico due to the high likelihood that it would be found in Mexico. This is probably the same reason why Galati (2003) listed it as present in Mexico. Regardless, the presence of this species in Mexico is confirmed by the following records.

Material examined. Mexico: Veracruz, Municipality of Paso de Ovejas (labeled as Tezonapa), El Palmar, 23- 24-06 /2009, selva baja, huleras, UV-CDC trap, Brigada Entomológica VI, col. 9 males, 66 females.
