Parupeneus barberinoides (Bleeker 1852) —Bicolour goatfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Caroline Islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on rubble, in seagrass habitats, and in coral reefs, 1–40 m depth. Marine.
