Description. Dark grey pattern of wings strongly widened; ground colour dark yellow with a strong rose tint at costal margin. Forewing proximal band consists of an oval spot in central cell, large oval spot between this cell and vein A, and an entirely dark space between vein A and wing hind margin, except of a dark yellow basal 1/4. Outer 1/3 part of forewing entirely dark except of narrow rose strokes along veins at wing apex and a dark yellow fringe. Hindwing dark yellow with wide brownish outer margin and light darkenings at wing base and along anal veins. Fringe also dark yellow.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 7 – 14 ): Aedeagus apex with a single strong spine.
Remarks. By the wing pattern, the subspecies from Russia differs from the nominotypical one by a wider dark margin on hindwings that is noticeably extended towards the tornal angle, while in the nominotypical subspecies from North China the dark margin is strongly constricted towards the tornal angle. Differences in number of the strong spines on aedeagus apex (two in nominotypical subspecies and one in P. r. ussuriensis ) should be verified on additional material from China.
Distribution. Russia: southern districts of Primorskiy Kray north to Kirovskii ( Dubatolov et al., 1993; Dubatolov, 2010); probably, occurs in neighboring parts of Korea and North-Eastern China.
