The types are in the Zoological Collections of the Moravian Museum in Brno, Czech Republic; voucher number not known . Type locality: cave Baba near Trebinje in Hercegovina .

The species is known from southern Dalmacija ( Croatia), southeastern Herzegovina ( Bosnia and Herzegovina; BIH) and Montenegro ( Bole & Velkovrh 1986), and from the cave Baba pećina near Trebinje in Herzegovina (type locality). Schütt (2000) listed the species from the material washed out from the Ombla cave system in Croatia (not frequent, but consistently represented). Its distribution includes the extended area around the Popovo Polje (BIH) as well as Trsteno, north of Dubrovnik in Croatia ( Schütt 1975). The individuals of this species have never been found in large numbers ( Schütt 2000, Seddon 2010c). Our specimens were collected within the geographic range shown by Schütt (1975), and were similar to the ones presented by him.
