Pacifigeron Nesom (1994a: 160) View in CoL , emend. Saldivia. Type:— Pacifigeron rapensis (F. Br.) G.L. Nesom.

Pachycaul shrubs or treelets 0.2–2 m tall with pseudo-dichotomous branching. Leaves persistent, alternate, clustered at the distal part of the branches, glabrescent or with scattered non-glandular trichomes at maturity, broadly obovate to obovate-spatulate, coriaceous, flat, pseudopetiolate, semi-clasping, with dense and persistent clumps of linear multicellular uniseriate trichomes with elongated cells arising from the axil, green on both surfaces, venation parallel or pinnate with secondary veins arising from the bottom half of the lamina, with mid and secondary vein distally anastomosed. Sympodial branching with terminal loose or dense capitulescences. Capitula radiate or disciform. Phyllaries in 2–4 series, flat, acute to subulate, inner ones longer than the outer ones. Receptacles epaleate, roughened to slightly alveolate. Ray florets pistillate, fertile; corolla ligulate, 3-lobed, white. Disc florets functionally staminate; corolla infundibuliform, 5-lobed, white to yellowish creamy, or with light green tinge; style lacking stigmatic area, covered by papillae from base to top; anthers bases attenuate, obtuse, apical appendage deltoid, filament collar slightly wider than the filament or swollen. Cypselae with 9–11 longitudinal conspicuously raised ribs nearly equally spaced, dark brown. Pappus shorter than or equal to the corolla (in ray and disc florets) length, mostly in two rows of bristles of different or sub-equal lengths and a shorter outer row of setae.
