CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Paroxyna punctella (Fallén, 1814) ( Foote 1984: 116) ; junior synonym of Paroxyna absinthii ( Fabricius, 1805) ( White 1986: 151) ; junior synonym of Campiglossa absinthii ( Fabricius, 1805) ( Norrbom et al. 1999: 108) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1870c: 124) proposed Oxyna dracunculi for Trypeta absinthii ( Fabricius, 1805) sensu Zetterstedt (1847: 2241) and Tephritis absinthii ( Fabricius, 1805) sensu Schiner (1862b: 155) , which he considered a new species. We did not consider Schiner’s redescription (1858: 670) of Trypeta absinthii ( Fabricius, 1805) because he stated not having any specimen. Schiner (1862b: 155) redescribed Tephritis absinthii ( Fabricius, 1805) from some specimens of his collection. Rondani referred to Zetterstedt’s redescription of Tephritis absinthii ( Fabricius, 1805) and to Schiner’s redescription of Tephritis absinthii ( Fabricius, 1805) (both redescriptions were based on an unspecified number of specimens) and to a single specimen in his collection received from Bigot: “ unicum exemplar possideo [I have a single specimen]”. Therefore, the type material should be in the collections of Zetterstedt (MZLU), Schiner (NHMW) and Rondani. We found 14 syntypes in this study. No specimen labeled as Tephritis absinthii is present in Schiner’s collection in the NHMW (P. Sehnal, pers. comm., September 2019). Rondani stated that the single specimen of his collection does not fit Loew’s redescriptions (1844: 394, 1862: 93) of Trypeta absinthii . For this reason, we do not consider the specimens of Tephritis absinthii in Loew’s collection (MNHUB) as types of Oxyna dracunculi .
