Holotype. WHT 6176, adult male, collected from Ritigala , Ceylon (= Sri Lanka).
Materials. Morphological and meristic data for O. nigristigma was sourced from its original description, Bahir & de Silva 2005.

Distribution and Natural History. Otocryptis nigristigma is endemic to and widely distributed across the dry and intermediate zones of Sri Lanka from near sea level to up to 400 m asl. It has been reported from the North- Central and Eastern parts of the country, including Dambulla, Wasgomuwa and Sigiriya. It is diurnal, terrestrial to semi-arboreal, insectivorous and oviparous, laying 4 eggs ( Somaweera & Somaweera 2009).
