Diagnosis

Head reddish brown; vertex anteriorly with a pale yellowish transversal band (faded in holotype). Fore wing with three to four dots present at the apex, outer gradate series, and distal M. Apex of hind wing with a dot. Male tergum 9 with a relatively short process, 0.9 times as long as width in lateral view, nearly equilateral triangular, apex relatively rounded; gonocoxites 9 with two pairs of tubercles, subtriangular and isometric in lateral view; in ventral view, the anterior pair nearly larger; the two pairs of tubercles forming a rectangular arrangement; gonocoxites 10 hook-like, slightly curved anteriorly, then curved roundly; ectoproct nearly trapezoid, distal margin depressed in lateral view.

Description

Head width 2.3 mm; fore wing length 26.8 mm; hind wing length 23.5 mm.

Head. ( Figure 10C View Figure 10 ) Faded in holotype. Reddish brown, vertex convex, hairless, with a pale yellowish transversal band. Ocelli distinct, with yellow setae. Antennae filiform, scape and pedicel brown, covered with some yellowish setae; flagellum slender, dark brown, flagellomeres relatively short, with setae. Frons and clypeus reddish brown, clypeus lateral margin with a pair of dark dots, covered with some dark setae. Labrum brown. Mandibles basally brown, distally dark brown. Maxilla pale brown. Maxillary and labial palpi yellowish brown.

Thorax. ( Figure 10B View Figure 10 ) Brown with dark brown markings. Pronotum as long as wide, with two pairs of longitudinal dark brown stripes, covered with many long yellowish-brown setae. Meso- and metanotum generally brown, covered with many brown and yellowish-brown setae.

Legs. Long and slender, yellow, covered with short setae. Tibia nearly twice as long as femur; tarsomere 1 relatively longer, nearly as long as entire length of tarsomeres 2–4; pretarsal claws curved. Metatibia longer than that of fore- and midlegs.

Wings. Ovoid, hyaline, with dense setae. Pterostigma dark brown alternating with pale. Fore wing with three to four dark dots present at the apex, outer gradate series, and distal M; cua-cup cell with some indistinct brown markings; costal space broad basally, subcostal veinlets basally connected by some short oblique crossveins; RP with 16 branches; RP1 originating near origin of RP, M fork slightly proximad origin of RP1; two distinct gradate series present, CuP with few crossveins; A1 and A2, with pectinate branches and crossveins. Hind wing subcostal veinlets without interlinked crossvein; apex with a dark dot, outer gradate series without dark dots.

Abdomen. Dark brown, covered with yellowish-brown setae. Male genitalia ( Figure 10D, E View Figure 10 ): Tergum 8 long, scent gland relatively thin, stored under the tergum 8; tergum 9 with a relatively short process, nearly equilateral triangular, apex relatively rounded; callus cerci relatively ovoid. Gonocoxites 9 slightly sclerotised distally, with some setae; two pairs of tubercles present distally, subtriangular and isometric in lateral view; in ventral view, the anterior pair nearly larger; the two pairs tubercles forming a rectangular arrangement. Gonocoxites 10 ( Figure 14F View Figure 14 ) hook-like, slightly curved anteriorly, then curved roundly. Ectoproct nearly trapezoid, distal margin depressed in lateral view. Female genitalia ( Figure 10F, G View Figure 10 ): Sternum 7 without processes; gonocoxite 8 small. Tergum 9 branched ventrad. Gonocoxites 9 curved dorsad. Ectoproct triangular in lateral view.

Type material

Distribution

China ( Taiwan).

Etymology

This new species is dedicated to the cerambycid researcher Dr. Wen-I Chou (周文一), who collected the holotype of this new species.

Remarks

This species can be distinguished by the relatively short and rounded process of male tergum 9, the V-shaped posterior incision of male gonocoxites 9, and the depressed distal margin at the male ectoprocts in lateral view.
