ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1869c: 188.

TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but Delpino (1869: 232) listed Chiavari (Genoa, Italy) as the collecting locality .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (missing head) ( MZUF: Box 39): Oscinis Fab. / aristolochiae Rnd. / 2073 / Lectotypus Oscinis aristolochiae Rond. , ♂, Dely-Draskovits, 1982 / Tricimba humeralis Loew , det. Dely-Draskovits, 1982.

PARALECTOTYPES EXAMINED: 5 ♂♂ (two missing abdomen) ( MZUF: Box 39): Oscinis Fab. / aristolochiae Rnd. / 2073 / Paralectotypus Oscinis aristolochiae Rond. , ♂, Dely-Draskovits, 1982 / Tricimba humeralis Loew , det. Dely-Draskovits, 1982; 2 ♀♀ (one glued to a cardboard stage, the other missing left wing) ( MZUF: Box 39): Oscinis Fab. / aristolochiae Rnd. / 2073 / Paralectotypus Oscinis aristolochiae Rond. , ♀, Dely-Draskovits, 1982 / Tricimba humeralis Loew , det. Dely-Draskovits, 1982.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Tricimba humeralis (Loew, 1858) ( Dely-Draskovits 1983: 334) ; junior synonym of Tricimba cincta (Meigen, 1830) ( Nartshuk 1984b: 251) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1869c: 188) described Oscinis aristolochiae , without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens received from F. Delpino. Dely-Draskovits (1983: 335) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (5 ♂♂, 2 ♀♀).
