Description. In addition to generic characters, the specific characters for this species are

Body length: 2.5–2.6 mm

Male genitalia: Pygofer marked pointed with slightly curved posteriorly, with irregular setae over posterior half ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 33–44 ); valve is free to pygofer, triangular shape, articulation of valve with pygofer pointed ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 45–56 ); subgenital plate with one row of macrosetae near margin, with stout membranous finger-like process on mesal edge of posterior margin ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 33–44 ); style bent small fingerlike with preapical lobe, apex inflated ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 33–44 ); connective articulated with aedeagus, Y shape ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 21–32 ); anal tube appendages articulated to posterodorsal margin of pygofer laterally, form end like spine, long and narrowed arising from base of anal tube ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 45–56 ); aedeagal shafts arising from base, Shafts branches extent with slightly diverging, apices of branches slightly curved outward, lateral view, shafts abruptly narrowed preapically, branches length 3 times the base, with pointed apex ( Figs 30–31 View FIGURES 21–32 ).

Female genitalia: female 7th sternite approximately 3 times as broad at base as long medially, with sinuous posterior margin, posterior margin with lobe with median V-shape notch in middle ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 45–56 ); numerous macrosetae on pygofer.

Ecology and biology. This species was collected from wadi Al-Dawasir by Linnavuori in February. Later collected from Oman in November and March ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 57–62 ). No further more information is known.

Diagnosis: O. viraktamthi sp. n. can be distinguished from other Orosius by: pygofer, aedeagus and spine at base of anal tube. pygofer significantly pointed and slightly curved posteriorly ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 33–44 ); shafts of aedeagus abruptly narrower preapically ( Figs 30–31 View FIGURES 21–32 ); spine at base of anal tube moderately long and slightly regularly curved ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 45–56 ).

Etymology. This species is named in recognition of the long and distinguished career of Prof. Chandra Viraktamath, Bangalore, India.
