Lectotype (Paton in Jarvis & al. in Taxon 50: 515. 2001): Herb. Linn. No. 743.4 ( LINN) .

Current name: Origanum vulgare L. subsp. vulgare View in CoL View at ENA ( Lamiaceae ).

Note: Ietswaart (in Leiden Bot. Ser. 4: 107. 1980) wrongly indicated 743.3 (LINN) as the holotype which he also simultaneously indicated as the type of O. sipyleum L. This collection is not original material for O. creticum .
