Distribution:—?Southern Myanmar and Sulawesi.
Note:— Previously considered endemic to Sulawesi, and occurrence in Myanmar seems unlikely. Oberonia brachystachys Lindl., Sert. Orchid. : sub t. 8 B , 1838. Types :— MYANMAR. Without locality: Griffith 697 (syntype: K-LINDL); same loc., Griffith 778 (syntype: K-LINDL)
Homotypic synonyms: Malaxis brachystachys (Lindl.) Rchb. f. in Ann. Bot. Syst. (Walpers) 6: 211, 1861. Iridorkis brachystachya (Lindl.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen . Pl. 2: 669, 1891.
Specimens examined:— TENASSERIM. Parish 257 (not located), fide Parish (1883: 190; as Malaxis brachystachys ). TANINTHARYI. Myeik District: Griffith s.n. (not located), fide Grant (1895: 28). WITHOUT LOCALITY. Types; Griffith s.n. ( AMES, K, L, P) .
Distribution:— The eastern Himalayas, northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia.
