Distribution: BFO, DOC, GBI, GUI, NRE, RCI, SLN.
Distribution in Guinea-Bissau (Administrative Regions): 2) OIO.
Historic records:
Bissorã (OIO) [ Serrano 2009a sub Coptodera (Coptoderina) rugiceps (Murray, 1857) ].
Material examined: Bissorã (OIO), 17. VI.1992, 1 male, LT, A. Serrano leg., ASC.
Remarks. The species has a scattered known distribution throughout western and central Africa (Jansen 1968; Lorenz 2021). The male adult specimen of Bissorã was misinterpreted and identified as Coptodera (Coptoderina) rugiceps (Murray, 1857) and by Serrano (2009a). Taking this into account, C. rugiceps must be excluded from the known entomofauna of Guinea-Bissau. The male adult specimen matches very well with the description of Neocoptodera championi , including the aedeagus (Jansen 1968). This species is a new record for Guinea-Bissau.
