Type host: Calidris pugnax (Linnaeus) ( Charadriiformes : Scolopacidae ) from Rwanda.
Diagnosis. Palp tarsus with 3 setae (2 setae Na-type and 1 Sd-type) and solenidion; palp tibia without setae. Hypostomal setae n Na-type, m Sd-type. All dorsal setae Da-type, except sensillae si SC-type. Coxal setae I and II Da-type, III Na-type. Setae 1a Da-type, 3a and 4a Na-type. Agenital series with 2 pairs of setae. Setae ag1–2 and ps1 Na-type, g1–3 and ps2 Da-type. Coxa IV without setae; femur I with 5 setae, femur II with 4 setae.
Hosts and distribution. Charadriiformes (Scolopacidae) : Calidris pugnax (Linnaeus) and Tringa glaerOla Linnaeus from Rwanda [Southern Prov., Butare] ( Fain 1956a, 1956c, 1963d).
Non-African hosts and distribution. Scolopacidae : Actitis macularius (Linnaeus) from Trinidad and Tobago ( Fain & Aitken 1968), Mexico and USA (Fain & Hyland 1975), Arenaria interpres (Linnaeus) from Canada (Fain & Hyland 1975), Calidris melanOtOs (Vieillot) from USA ( Clark 1964), C. minutilla (Vieillot) from USA and Mexico (Fain & Hyland 1975), C. pugnax (Linnaeus) from Russia (Zabludovskaya 1998), GallinagO gallinagO (Linnaeus) from USA (Pence 1973a) and Russia (Zabludovskaya 1998), LimnOdrOmus griseus (Gmelin) from USA (Fain & Hyland 1975), L. scOlOpaceus (Say) from USA (Pence 1973a), LimOsa lappOnica (Linnaeus) from Australia ( Domrow 1965), Tringa flavipes (Gmelin) and T. melanOleuca (Gmelin) from USA ( Clark 1964), and Tringa sOlitaria Wilson from USA (Fain & Hyland 1975).
