Nanomantis australis Saussure, 1871
This poorly-known species is rather dissimilar to other Nanomantinae (all of which are known from Asia) ( Schwarz & Roy 2019) and is probably better placed in the Australasian Fulciniinae , with which it shares a characteristic forewing venation pattern ( Giglio-Tos 1927; Schwarz & Roy 2019). Its current position is retained for now owing to lack of specimens and the required nomenclatural changes (it is the type of the genus and hence of the entire family). Profulcinia Giglio-Tos, 1915 and Gyrothespis Werner, 1928 are not synonyms of Nanomantis as has been often repeated; instead they are synonyms of Fulciniola Giglio-Tos, 1915 ( Fulciniinae : Stenomantini ) and Fulcinia Stål, 1877 ( Fulciniinae : Fulciniini ) respectively.
