Myropteryx pullus Miller, 1906
Miller, G.S. Jr. (1906) A new genus of sac-winged bats. Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington, 19 (1906): 60 [59–60].
Valid name: Cormura brevirostris (Wagner, 1843)
Type species of Myropteryx Miller, 1906
Holotype: ZMB 3360 View Materials , body in alcohol, skull extracted (but lost), female, adult; “Albina Maroni” = Albina, Marowijne river, Surinam [= restricted type locality]; collected by Kappler.
Paratype (same locality and collector as for the holotype): ZMB 3360 View Materials a, body in alcohol, skull (fragments) extracted, male .
Comment : Husson (1962: 46, 48) identified ZMB 3360 View Materials as the holotype, while Carter & Dolan (1978: 19) identified the female as the holotype. According to the catalogue entry the male is the holotype: “Männchen Typus von Myropteryx pullus Miller. Proc Biol. Soc. Washington XIX. 1906, 59/60”, although contrary to this, the male ( ZMB 3360 View Materials a) is labelled as “ paratype ”. A further paratype is at BMNH (1912.11.27.1).
