Carmia stegoderma De Laubenfels, 1954: 154 View in CoL , text-fig. 100.
Summary description. Yellowish brown-grey crust on dead coral, 7 cm in lateral expansion, 1–2 mm thick. There are very large subectosomal spaces, leaving only a thin choanosomal crust on the substratum. Megascleres mycalostyles of 500 x 6 µm occasionally forming bundles of up 130 µm in thickness. Microscleres anisochelae in two size categories, 40 and 15 µm (the latter being rare), a single category of sigmas, 33 µm, and a single category of toxas, 40 µm.
Distribution. Pohnpei, Federate States of Micronesia (East Caroline Islands), depth 4 m.
Comment. The combination of long mycalostyles with small toxas appears distinct among the Mycale (Carmia) species of the region.
