Description. Length 5.7–7.5 mm, width 3.3–4.4 mm. General color yellowish brown; antenna black except two basal antennomeres; vertex with one dark spot; tibia and tarsus black; elytra reddish brown with purple reflection ( Figs 14 View FIGURES 14 A–14C); pronotum with two pairs of large black spots in a transverse line across disc, inner pair smaller, as well as a small black spot on median line slightly anterior to basal margin ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14 D). Antenna filiform ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 15 A), 0.4x as long as body; length ratios of antennomeres II to XI about 1.0: 1.2: 1.9: 1.6: 1.8: 1.9: 1.9: 1.8: 1.8: 2.0, and length to width ratios of antennomeres II to XI about 1.6: 2.2: 3.2: 2.6: 2.7: 2.8: 2.8: 2.9: 2.8: 4.0. Aedeagus ( Figs 15 View FIGURES 15 B–15D) extremely slender in dorsal view, about 10.7x longer than wide; parallel-sided, but abruptly widened at apical 1/8, then apically tapering; ventral surface well sclerotized and smooth; narrow and slightly curved in lateral view; four setae at apex of ventral surface of internal sac, seven or eight setae arranged in a longitudinal row on ventral surface; apical process of endophallic sclerite without subapical branch directed outwards; apico-lateral process slightly curved inwards; with one pair of processes erect and recurved outwards at apical 1/3; base tubelike. Gonocoxae reduced. Ventrite VIII ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 15 D) with short spiculum; apex transverse, with long and short setae scattered along apical area. Receptacle of spermatheca ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 15 E) elongate and strongly swollen, pump much narrower and strongly curved, proximal spermathecal duct long and wide.
Diagnosis. Morphosphaera coomani is similar to M. sumatrana in possessing reddish brown elytra and five black spots on the pronotum, but adults of M. coomani have a dark spot on the vertex (no dark spot on the vertex in M. sumatrana ), subapically widened penis (parallel-sided penis in M. sumatrana ), several setae on ventral surface of internal sac (no setae in M. sumatrana ), no erect and recurved processes on endophallic sclerite (with one pair erect and recurved processes in M. sumatrana ).
Host plant. Debregeasia orientalis C. J. Chen (Urticaceae) ( Figs 14 View FIGURES 14 E, 14F) (present study), Debregeasia sp. ( Jiang 1992, Zhang et al 2005, Zhang et al 2006), Ficus sp. ( Moraceae ) ( Jolivet & Hawkeswood 1995).
