Measurement. Male (n=5): BL 12.80±0.47, HL 1.91±0.20, HW 3.55±0.28, PL 2.10±0.18, PW3.72±0.26, FWL 6.50±0.24, FWW 3.70±0.30, MTL 2.80±0.24, HFL 7.35±0.50
Description. Male. Body slightly smaller than Gryllinae species in medium size. Head slightly longer than pronotum. Occiput broad and somewhat flatten in dorsal view, vertex slightly forward declined. Frons convex and rounded, slightly wider than antennal scape. Antennal scape rectangle-like, width almost equal to length. Postclypeus (up portion of clypeus) narrow-band like. Labrum broad and shield-like, with rounded lateral margins and apical margin arched concave. Pronotum broad and flatten, lateral margin outward inclined and fold down, lateral lobes somewhat flatten. Elytral tapering and short, not reaching abdominal end. Basal field short and slightly longer than the half length of pronotum. Oblique veins two (sometimes presenting one). Diagonal vein straight and bending as obtuse angle at joint between the vein and mirror. Mirror rectangle-like, longer than width and with bottom margin round and convex; dividing vein always arched and dividing a small oval portion posteriorly. Apical field short and small, nearly as long as mirror. Hind wings long and much longer than cercus. Cercus thin and long, almost equal to the length of hind femur. Fore tibia armed with large and long oval-like tympanum in outside; and inner tympanum small and oval shaped. Hind femur conspicuously longer than tibia. Subapical spurs five or six, the apical or proximal one always varied. First hind tarsus armed with two rows of fine spines.
Coloration. Body colored yellowish brown and ornamented with patterns in brown or dark brown. Occiput colored light, possessing five irregular longitudinal stripes. Of them, the middle two fine and the outside two branching at tip. Vertex ornamented with a transvers, thick and dark brown band between eyes; and a thin transverse stripe between lateral ocelli. Coloration of frons become shallow from top to bottom; a yellowish-brown stripe longitudinally beginning from middle ocellus to clypeus and become triangular at the tip. Top portions of clypeus colored dark and the remainders yellowish-brown. The most portions of mandible yellowish-brown and the tip dark colored. Pronotum dark brown; the middle and lateral margin of disc colored yellowish-brown and ornamented with brown spots; anterior and posterior corners of lateral lobes of pronotum colored yellowish-brown at bottom with remainders dark brown. Elytra yellowish brown with top margin of lateral lobes ornamented with brown stripes. Abdominal disc and lateral lobes dark brown, and ventral portions yellowish-brown, but subgenital plate colored dark brown and cercus brown. Legs yellowish brown, and hind femur ornamented light brown dorsally with brown oblique stripes outside.
Genitalia. Epiphallus without media lobe and lateral lobes away from each other; inner margin of lateral lobe straight or slightly arched. In lateral view, lateral lobe wide with dorsal and bottom margin arched slightly upward. Ectoparamere thin and long, with apical part very long and inward curved.
Female Similar with male. Apex of ovipositor bearing rough surface ( Figs. 1B, F View FIGURE 1 ).
Remarks. Walker used the name ‘ Gryllus lineiceps’ for twice ( Walker, 1869; 1871), he named an Australia species under this name in 1869 and used it again for a Bombay species in 1871. And the regarding name here is the hind one and it is the junior homonym of G. lineiceps Walker, 1869 . After available name G. consobrinus used for those Bombay species, Chopard (1967) synonymized it under M. confirmatus by mistake ( Ingrisch, 1998). Probably, Yin and Liu (1995) identified Chinese species following Chopard’s mistake and recorded M. consobrinus species under the name M. confirmatus ( He, 2018) . Then, Ingrisch (1998) re-established this species under the name M. consobrinus and pointed G. lineiceps Walker, 1871 and Modicogryllus walkeri Chopare, 1961 are synonyms of it. And according to male’s genitalia, M. consobrinus , M. confirmatus , M. nandi and M. volivoli could be treated as a species group, their features are very similar to one another other.
